Placing a Bid
Your bid is a contract between you and the listing creator. If you have the highest bid at the close of the auction, you will enter into a legally binding purchase contract.
Our site offers easy bidding options to fit any bidding style. Place a Quick Bid directly from the auction catalog or set a Proxy Bid and utilize automatic bidding.
Quick Bid -
Bid directly from the auction catalog by clicking the 'Quick Bid' red box. This will place a bid for the next increment higher. The amount you are bidding will be shown in the red box. You must confirm this bid, with estimated tax and buyer’s premium in the pop-up window, before your bid is placed. This is a one time bid - You will be notified via email if you are outbid by another bidder. All bids can be managed from the My Accounts > My Bids tab.
To place a Proxy Bid (the maximum dollar amount you are willing to pay) - click View Details for the lot you want to bid on.
Enter the maximum dollar amount you are willing to pay (including dollars & cents) in the gray box, then click ‘Submit Bid’. You must confirm this bid, with estimated tax and buyer’s premium in the pop-up window, before your bid is placed. Proxy bid will automatically bid the next increment higher up to your maximum bid. You will be notified via email if you are outbid by another bidder. All bids can be managed in the My Account > My Bids tab.
Managing an Account
Once you have registered, there are several ways to manage your account profile, including: tax-exempt status; bidding activity; and invoices. From the homepage, hover over My Account > My Bids. For more about My Account Home - click here.

Bidding: Watching | Active | Offers | Won | Not Won | Invoices
Watching - Watch the bidding activity for any lot without placing a bid. Click ‘View Details’ for the lot you want to watch. Then click +Add to Watch List. *Add lots you are bidding on to your watch list and view as the auction closes. Easily place bids on just the items you are interested in. Quick Bid and Proxy Bid are both available from the watch list.* Once the auction has closed, the lots need to be manually deleted from this list. Select the white box, in the top left corner of the listing, for the lot(s) you want to delete. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Remove Selected’.
Active - After placing a bid you can monitor your active bids in one list. Both Jarman Auction Company and Guest Seller [active] auction bids will be listed. Once the auction has closed, the lots will automatically move to ‘Won’ or ‘Not Won’ on the left sidebar menu.
Offers - Guest Seller feature
Won - All lots won in previous auctions are listed by auction date.
Not Won - All lots not won in previous auctions are listed by auction date.
Invoices - Allows you to easily see your Paid / Unpaid invoices from all closed auctions. Both Jarman Auction Company and Guest Seller auction invoices are listed.
Account: Details | Addresses | Credit Cards | Password
- Details - Manage your account profile. Update name, phone number, email, and enter Tax Exempt information.
- Addresses - Manage and update billing and shipping/mailing addresses for your account. *Please keep this information current to avoid payment processing issues or shipping delays*
- Credit Cards - Manage and update debit/credit card payment information. *Please keep this information current to avoid payment processing issues*

User Profile & Payments
Payments will be processed immediately following an auction closing and will include the purchase price plus the buyer’s premium and any other fees or taxes required. *Payments to third-party sellers must be made according to their requirements.
Items will not be shipped, delivered, or be available for pick up until invoices are paid in full. Invoices must be paid within 3 days of the auction closing. Accounts with unpaid invoices will be suspended and all items not paid for will be forfeited and shall become the property of Jarman Auction Company/BuyOrBidOnIt.com. *Jarman Auction Company/BuyOrBidOnIt.com reserves the right to resell, donate, or otherwise discard forfeited items.
Permission to Charge Credit Cards - Bidders are required to enter a valid credit/debit card to register. Placing a bid in any auction grants Jarman Auction Company permission to charge the winning bidders’ credit/debit card immediately following an auction closing.

Pick Up & Shipping
Our business hours are Monday - Friday from 8am - 3pm*. We are located at 5734 Speedway Blvd. Hardeeville, SC 29927. *Hours are subject to change with short or no notice* Call ahead if you plan to pick up after 2pm.
(Off Hwy 17, between the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge and the Talmadge Bridge.)
*If you are picking up large items, please call (843) 784-2222 to let us know what day you plan to pick up. We schedule estate pick ups throughout the week and want to make sure we have the necessary help available to assist with loading.
Any item(s) not picked up within 14 days of auction closing will be forfeited. No refunds will be given. Please see our Terms & Conditions for more details.
We will ship most items that will fit in a Priority Mail box. For larger items, please contact us at (843) 784-2222 before bidding if you will need the item(s) shipped. We DO NOT ship any large framed in glass prints or large sets of china. For other large or delicate items, a premium shipping charge will be applied.
We ship using US Postal Service and UPS only. We do not accept pre-printed labels from other carriers. We will accept a pre-printed USPS or UPS label, however, a packaging charge will apply.
In addition to actual shipping charges, we charge $1 per Lb. for handling and 1-cent per dollar for insurance on items valued over $50. For example, if you purchase an item that weighs 5 lbs and sells for $200, you will be charged the price of shipping plus $7 ($5 + $2). Sometimes we do offer a break on the weight charge if the item(s) are easy to pack. For example, a set of 5 books may weigh 18 lbs, but we would charge less than $18 for packing. We are fair in determining shipping costs. We have many years of experience in quality shipping.
If you purchase an item that you need to have shipped, please CONTACT US to let us know that you need shipping. We have many local bidders who still have out-of-town addresses, so we do not automatically ship something just because the address is not local.
Firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms License holder. Handguns must only be shipped using Priority Mail. Long guns may be shipped with UPS Ground.
We will make our own judgment about which service to use. We try to find the least expensive service but for more delicate or fragile items, US Priority Mail is preferred over UPS Ground. This is based on over 20 years of experience in shipping items.
