Description

The brass body is 1 3/4” diameter with the firing wheel extending 1/2”. One side has Lady of Alsace, a young lady in Flemish traditional dress surrounded by hop plants, signed by Armand Bargas, a renowned designer of brooches in the late 18th and early 20th centuries. The reverse has a caricature of Crown Prince Wilhelm smiling with the phrase Mon Reve in French meaning “my dream” and Paris engraved on his collar. This was to depict his anticipated victory at the Battle of Verdun. The lighter dates from 1917 - 1918. It is in very good condition with wear consistent with age. This is a great WW1 collectible.
